Body building and regular exercising have their benefits. This is a way for us to embrace a healthy lifestyle that will empower us for various physical and mental activities. But there is a downside to almost everything we do, one of the downsides, very rare one, is exercise addiction.
Exercise addiction is like any other type of addiction, drugs, cigarettes, alcohol, you name it. It is a need mental and physical need of one person to go to the gym and workout, to pump iron and check out his progress in millimeters.
Body Supplement
This is a form of obsessive compulsive disorder; the name addiction is purely given because of the overall appearance of someone being addicted to the gym. Most people make the mistake of associating exercise addiction with the use of steroids and prohibited supplements. While they can lead to similar symptoms, these are two different things.
Exercise addiction is usually born when a person decides to start with the life change and embrace body building. This is a mental spring that some of us fail to lock once we start working out. This is a big lifestyle change for most, some people simply don't know how to adjust and they embrace body building as the only way of life and start obsessing over it.
It is not so hard to notice a person that is addicted to exercise. You will see them overworking all the time, working out at odd hours, talking about it, feeling unease when they are not in the gym etc....
Treatment of exercise addiction can be very hard for chronic repeaters. In those cases professional help is needed, but for a person that is starting to develop these symptoms a simple break and admitting that there is a problem can break the cycle and put the person back into a normal routine.
This is not as rare as people think, but in most cases it is bound by some normal standards, but in the cases where these goes over boundaries people are putting their health at great risk.
